Addiction Awareness

Families Anonymous, a support group for families – find a meeting in your area: https://www.familiesanonymous.org/meetings/meeting-directories/

Addiction can happen in days but it has a long term effect on the user and the lives around them.  It comes in many forms and has permeated all parts of our society.  You may have family members, friends or neighbors quietly struggling with the weight of this.  Let’s break the silence.  People can’t fight what they don’t know about, so this is all about stopping the stigma, the silence, the hiding and getting the word out.

What can we do about it?  First we may have to re-think or re-define addicts as people, suffering from addiction to something that controls them. Then, maybe we can see them as a son, daughter, brother, sister, mom, dad, spouse, grandchild, cousin, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, friend… that needs help getting freed from a life in bondage.

We wanted to let people know that God loves you very much and nobody has to face this alone. There are some really great support groups and resources available in this area that are available to help both the addict and their family (since families need help dealing with this too!)

Please reach out to someone for help if you find yourself trying to cope with this alone!
